Randhir Kapoor is the eldest son of Raj Kapoor . Today he is the studio head of RK Films, the film production house started by his legendary father. Although he has taken part in a relatively small amount of films by Bollywood standards, somewhere around 40 to date (This is an industry where an actor can appear in 100 to 200 plus films in a fruitful career), Randhir is actually one of the most influential Bollywood personalities in the industry.
He has worked as an actor, a film director, a film producer, a Bollywood studio head, he married a Bollywood starlet, Babita, and popularly today his most notable achievement is as the father of Bollywood's most famous sisters, Kareena and Karisma Kapoor.
Randhir Kapoor as the head of the RK banner is also the holder of the legacy that is Raj Kapoor. One part of RK Studios has been converted into a museum with memorabilia from the films of Raj Kapoor.
As an actor Randhir burst upon the scene in a big way. In 1971 guided by his father, Randhir both directed and acted in the film "Kal Aaj Aur Kal". This movie has the distinction of being the only film in which three generations of Kapoors worked together. The movie also starred Babita, whom Randhir later married.
Randhir went on to have a popular career as a film star throughout the 1970s. In 1972 he appeared in "Jawani Diwani" with Jaya Bhaduri and the film along with its great music by RD Burman was a big hit. The playback singing of Kishore Kumar was used almost exclusively by Randhir and they had a great association.
In the 1980s and 90s Randhir turned his hand almost exclusively to the role of producer. In 1991 he directed the film "Henna" that starred his brother, Rishi and the Pakistani star Zeba Bakhtiar.
